Dan Gillespie-Sells: Still Feeling It
Twenty years. It’s a long time in anyone’s book, but in music, where careers can come and go in the blink of an eye, it’s quite something. For Dan Gillespie-Sells, frontman of The Feeling, it’s a milestone that’s being celebrated in the best possible way: by getting back on the road and playing the album that started it all.

Albums: Blossoms Songs From The Wedding Cake
Tom Ogden’s songwriting has become noticeably more personal, drawing heavily on marriage, relationships and the small details that make up a shared life. Yet there is nothing overly grand about the subject matter. Instead, Blossoms find their material in arguments, car journeys, television nights and domestic routines, turning the stuff of everyday existence into bright, melodic indie-pop.
Albums: Vonda Shepard Nine Songs
There has never been any sense of Vonda Shepard rushing to put out a record simply for the sake of having something new to say. Instead, she has always seemed more interested in maintaining the remarkable bond she has built with her live audience, whilst allowing herself the time and space to follow her own creative process. New music arrives when it is ready — and, on Nine Songs, that patience has once again paid off.
Albums: Ella Hooper Overnight Success
Killing Heidi was only the beginning. Hooper subsequently explored a folkier side with The Verses alongside Jesse, before embarking on a solo career that has seen her continually experiment with an array of genres and sonic landscapes. Overnight Success, her third solo album, finds her drawing all of those experiences together and planting herself firmly in the Americana and country sphere.
Luxury SUV The BMW Way – X7 On Test
I remember when the BMW X5 was launched in 1999. It was the German manufacturer’s first foray into the world of the SUV. The emphasis was more on sporty on-road driving rather than off-road prowess. I must confess to coveting one, and once a year or two had passed, I did contemplate a second-hand purchase, but values remained strong.

Alton Towers Scarefest 2026: A Spooktacular Family Weekend of Frights, Rides and Halloween Fun

Deja Vu: “We’re Peak Living Right Now”
Deja Vu are feeling very much on top of the world. The British-Venezuelan girl group – Elle Botterill, Carolina Diaz and Tyrece Lewis – admit that their current run of success feels surreal, particularly as they are touring alongside one of their biggest influences, the Pussycat Dolls. “We just can’t believe what’s actually going on. It’s insane,” they say. “It’s surreal, definitely.
Twenty Years Of Squalor: Keith Murray On We Are Scientists, University Nights And The Art Of Time Travel
There are albums you listen to, and there are albums that become attached to a particular version of yourself. For me, We Are Scientists' With Love & Squalor belongs firmly in the latter category.

Albums: Keo Put A Smile On For Me
For a debut, that is an exciting prospect. Put A Smile On For Me is compelling and refreshing, establishing Keo as a band with huge potential while already delivering enough evidence of that potential in the present. The Nirvana comparisons may have raised expectations before the record even arrived, but Keo have answered them in the best possible way: by sounding like themselves.
Albums: Max McNown Leave On A Light
The Nashville singer-songwriter’s third studio album is a significant step forward from his first two records. Across 17 tracks, McNown expands the boundaries of his sound, moving beyond the more straightforward country foundations of his earlier work and into something considerably more fluid: part indie, part folk, part country, with flashes of pop that give the album a broader, more contemporary reach.

Albums: Big Country Redux Eastworld
Twenty-five years on from Stuart Adamson’s death, Big Country returns in a new guise: Big Country Redux. The name is an appropriately reflective one for Eastworld, a ten-track collection that reaches back into the band’s archives to resurrect songs Adamson wrote or co-wrote with Bruce Watson and former bassist Tony Butler. Some will be familiar to long-standing fans through live performances, demos and lesser-known releases; others have spent decades waiting for the treatment they receive here.
Albums: Lawrence Rothman Here Lies Love/Sawdust To Stardust
There is something nocturnal about the album. Even when the music opens into the wide horizons of Americana, there are clouds gathering at the edges. Country, folk and rock mingle with more elusive textures, but nothing feels neatly contained. The songs drift, shimmer and bruise, carrying the weight of things remembered and things that perhaps cannot be forgotten. Rothman draws from the language of Americana without becoming bound by it, turning its familiar roads and landscapes into something stranger and more inward.

Albums: Carly Rae Jepsen Day and Night
There is a particular magic to Carly Rae Jepsen that only really makes sense when you see her live. I caught her on her last UK tour, and she effortlessly proved herself to be one of the best pop performers I’ve seen: completely at ease on stage, utterly committed to the songs and capable of turning a roomful of people into one giant, euphoric chorus.

Leee John: Still Learning, Still Creating, Still Proud and Bold
Leee John is tired. Not tired enough to stop, though. “I’m a little bit tired, I’m a little bit…” he laughs, reaching for a phrase. “I’m sounding like Donny and Marie now — I’m a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll.” He has just performed the night before and has been flying around the place, with the constant changes in weather beginning to catch up with him.
east exchange: “We Love Writing Sad Songs”
Liverpool four-piece east exchange. have spent the past year turning cramped rehearsal rooms, freezing warehouses and relentless touring into the foundations of something much bigger. Childhood friends united by a shared love of ’90s grunge and melodic alternative rock, the band have quickly built a reputation for raw, emotionally charged songs and an equally energetic live presence.

In 2026, good news feels increasingly precious, so Team Dresch’s return is worth celebrating. Thirty years after their last full-length, the legendary queercore punks are back with Furthermore, out via Jealous Butcher Records on 18 September.
Clark Datchler: Soul, Second Chances And Shattered Dreams
There are some interviews where you spend the first few minutes establishing a connection. Then there are the ones where, despite the years that have passed, you simply pick up where you left off. My history with Clark Datchler goes back to the Johnny Hates Jazz comeback campaign.
Albums: Smithfield Country With Heart
The long-awaited debut album from the Nashville duo finally brings together the eight tracks from 2024’s Country With Heart (Part One) with its newly completed Part Two, creating a fuller picture of Trey Smith and Jennifer Fielder’s musical partnership. Having recently returned from a UK tour that included appearances at Long Road and the British Country Music Festival, alongside a sold-out London headline show at St Pancras Old Church, it is increasingly obvious just how much affection there is for this pair.

Albums: Alex Warren WILDCHILD
There is something about Alex Warren’s music that feels deeply personal while somehow remaining universally relatable. His songs have an unusual ability to sit beside you in the messier corners of life, offering neither easy answers nor polished clichés, but the comforting sense that somebody else understands. On WILDCHILD, that quality develops into something particularly affecting: an endearing, emotionally charged and remarkably honest pop record about surviving the past, finding connection in the present and learning to embrace the life that remains.
Levina on Invincible Summer: finding her way back to connection, joy and herself
For London-based alt-soul artist Levina, Invincible Summer is more than just a new album. Written over the course of two years, the record charts a deeply personal and musical journey through disconnection, self-discovery and, ultimately, a return to connection.
Albums: Natalie Imbruglia Algorithm
Having started to tease the release back in April with the impressive shimmer of Upside Down, it was immediately apparent that Natalie has not lost sight of the slight alternative pop leanings that produced her biggest hits to date, but that she is not afraid either of playing the pure pop game. Subsequent singles, Algorithm and Just Drive, both built on this. Natalie Imbruglia has not lost sight of who she is as an artist, it is clear from these singles that she is simply ready to fully embrace the pop label with all her heart.
Albums: Cruz Beckham Wear & Tear
Having cited The Beatles, The Stone Roses and David Bowie as key influences, it is clear that Beckham is happy to wear these sounds within his own context, but at one stage does this EP try to simply emulate those artists? He rather marries his key influences with his own Britpop leanings to craft an EP that feels very much his own.

Albums: Stella Lefty Long Way Home
Stella Lefty has had a massive 2026. The breakout success of her Noah Kahan-interpolating single, Boston, has seen her achieve the longest-running ever #1 single on the UK country radio charts, but it has also seen her included on the prestigious Country Mount Rushmore for 20
Vonda Shepard: Still Searching Her Soul, 30 Years On
There are interviews where you arrive with a notebook, a list of questions and a vague sense of professional composure. And then there are interviews where you are speaking to someone whose music has been part of your life for three decades. I was 13 when I first heard Vonda Shepard.

Albums: Brandon Flowers Thrasher
The Killers frontman’s connection with country runs deep, rooted in childhood journeys through Utah with his father, soundtracked by the likes of Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. That history gives the album an authenticity that goes beyond simply adding pedal steel and acoustic guitars to a rock record. Flowers understands the storytelling tradition at the heart of the country, using it to revisit memories, places and experiences while giving them his own unmistakable voice.
